- <p> DIED. ZINO DAVIDOFF, 87, cigar dealer; in Geneva. "2 Rue de
- Rive, Geneva, Switzerland"--for years, that address was instantly
- recognizable to every cultivated smoker on earth as the location
- of Zino Davidoff's shop. Davidoff's ready supply of the very
- best aged, hand-rolled Havanas made Rue de Rive a point of pilgrimage
- for crowned heads, millionaires, statesmen and film stars who
- shared a love of tobacco. Davidoff sold millions of his world-class
- cigars in more than 100 stores around the globe and marketed
- a line of men's toiletries. He spread the gospel with his Connoisseur's
- Book of the Cigar and his own quotable presence. "You should
- never smoke a cigar except in moments of repose and reflection,"
- he once said. "There is an enormous part of sensuality in cigar
- smoking."
